Mainstream Media Reporting Style.

Last three councillors named Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah listening intently to (from left) Mohamad Sahfri Abdul Aziz and Shafik Fauzan Sharif while Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob looks on after the swearing in ceremony at Istana Abu Bakar yesterday. AS CAN BE SEEN AND READ IN THE NST OF 30TH APRIL 2008 AND REPRODUCED WORD BY WORD AS SHOWN BELOW. THIS IS HOW THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA REPORTS AN EVENT OR A NEWS. WHAT'S THE NECESSITY TO ADD THE 'ANTICIPATION OF SOME OTHER PERSON WAS SUPPOSED TO BE APPOINTED. IF THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA DO ANTICIPATE AND SPECULATE, WHAT ABOUT CREDIBILITY. CAN WE RELY ON THEM FOR NEWS? ARE THEY REPORTING NEWS OR ARE THEY MERELY TELLING US STORIES? PEKAN : The last three Pahang state executive councillors were named minutes before the swearing-in ceremony before Sultan Ahmad Shah this morning. Persidangan Parlimen Secara Siaran Langsung

Ketuanan Melayu with Responsibilities?

This is what one person by the name of Dr Syed Alwi wrote to RPK ( Raja Petra Kamaruddin ) sometime back and was subsequently posted by RPK at Malaysia Today. It received serious debate by bloggers irrespective of race and religion. Can we blame Article 153 of the Constitution, the NEP and the slogan " ketuanan Melayu " for all the things that happen to the Malays and the Non-Malays in this country? Why can't we just respect each other. Why must we widen the racial divide? Are the Malays not responsible enough in letting all bad things happen to the non-Malays in this country? And is there at all any bad things happening to the non-malays? Are the non-Malays suffering from the policies of NEP and the slogan of Ketuanan Melayu ? Dear friends of non- malay origin, lets live together harmoniously and be rest assured, we Malays know our responsibilities to our " Ugama , Bangsa dan Tanahair " "Dear RPK and other Malaysians, I find i

Political Secretaries 2008

Thursday April 24, 2008 Political secretaries urged to adopt people-friendly ways PUTRAJAYA : Political secretaries of ministers should steer clear of activities that could lead to a split or quarrel among party members , Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said. The Prime Minister said he wanted political secretaries to work as a team and be people-friendly especially with the scrapping of the parliamentary secretary post. “ Since there are no parliamentary secretaries , all you political secretaries will have to do a lot of work,” he said at the swearing-in of 27 political secretaries to ministers here yesterday. Among those sworn in are political secretaries to the prime minister Datuk Md Alwi Che Ahmad ( Kok Lanas assemblyman) and Datuk Vincent Lim Kian Tick ; political secretary to the finance minister Datuk Reezal Merican Naina Merican ; political secretary to deputy prime minister Datuk Mohamad Fatmi Che Salleh ; political secretaries to defence minister Datuk

Judicial Appointments Commission

I read with interest the announcement made by the PM on the setting up of the Judicial Appointments Commission and the putting to rest the ghost of 1988. The Judicial Appointments Commission to be set up will be responsible for the nomination, appointment and promotion of judges and to review the terms of service and remuneration. The announcement made was with the intention to revitalise the Judiciary. The PM was reported as saying by the NST 18 th April 2008 as follows :- "The commission, he said, would identify and recommend candidates for the judiciary to the prime minister. "While the constitutional prerogative of the prime minister to put forward names to the Yang di - Pertuan Agong will remain, the commission will help to evaluate and vet candidates in a systematic and credible manner for the prime minister, based on clearly- defined criteria." The announcement was made at a dinner hosted by the Bar Council Malaysia and attended by "Other notable guests

Political Secretary

Under the Federal Constitution Article 160.. " Member of the administration " means, in relation to the Federation, a person holding office as Minister, Deputy Minister, Parliamentary Secretary or Political Secretary and, in relation to a State, a person holding a corresponding office in the State or holding office as member (other than an official member) of the Executive Council. What are the duties of a Political Secretary vis-a-vis as a Member of the Administration? The position of the Political Secretary as stated in the Federal Constitution is very clear. At the Federal level, Political Secretaries are appointed by the Prime Minister; and at the State level, by the Chief Minister. Nevertheless by the nature of its calling, Political Secretaries are often regarded as a political post. In fact, most of the Government Departments do not recognise letters from Political Secretaries as from one arm of the government to another. Hierarchy wise, Political Secretaries must be

Singapore's report on Pak Lah

Singapore Straits Times report.... April 14, 2008 M'sia's PM refuses to quit, says he will contest his party's leadership KUALA LUMPUR - MALAYSIA'S PREMIER Abdullah Ahmad Badawi says he will not resign and will seek re-election as his party's leader in December. Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi told reporters on Monday there is no reason for him not to contest the post of the president of the ruling United Malays National Organisation (Umno) party. The party will hold its annual general assembly and elections for office bearers in December. Mr Abdullah indicated to the party last week that he will hand power eventually to his deputy, Mr Najib Razak. But Mr Abdullah said on Monday that he will discuss the succession plans only after December. The comments indicate that Mr Abdullah is willing to defy critics in the party who want him to resign soon. Earlier, reports of a growing revolt within Umno following last month's poll disaster has fed speculation that M

Leave Politics to Politicians. Civil Service to Civil Servants?

Leave politics to politicians, civil servants told By SIM LEOI LEOI PUTRAJAYA: Civil servants should “let politics be handled by politicians” and concentrate on carrying out their administrative duties and responsibilities. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said he did not want to hear complaints, particularly about staff at the Finance Ministry, that a project could not go on as planned because the matter was “stuck at the Treasury.” “The Treasury should not act as a hindrance to the implementation of projects under the Ninth Malaysia Plan. In the last four years, we have planned many projects but there was not enough implementation. The mid-term review is currently going on. “So, within these last few years under the 9MP, we have to further enhance our implementation. The Treasury is the main agency involved because many other ministries refer to it for vital decisions. “I don’t want these projects to get stuck at the Treasury and for it to become the cause of delay,” h

Kalau Babi Katakan Babi (Part 2)

Keliru kita dibuatnya.

Undang-Undang Tubuh Kerajaan Pahang atau "The Laws of the Constitution of Pahang" adalah tertakluk kepada Perlembagaan Persekutuan atau "The Federal Constitution". Perkataan Constitution membawa erti seperti berikut melalui carian dalam laman : http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/constitution - 1: an established law or custom : ordinance 2 a: the physical makeup of the individual especially with respect to the health, strength, and appearance of the body b: the structure, composition, physical makeup, or nature of something 3: the act of establishing, making, or setting up 4: the mode in which a state or society is organized; especially : the manner in which sovereign power is distributed 5 a: the basic principles and laws of a nation, state, or social group that determine the powers and duties of the government and guarantee certain rights to the people in it b: a written instrument embodying the rules of a political or social organization Definasi "the

Sang Kelembai Moden

(Zaharin: ‘I will still criticise Pak Lah if I have proof of misdeeds’) Dulu semasa kecil selalu kita mendengar cerita Sang Kelembai. Paling takut kalau disumpah Sang Kelembai. Semalam 10hb April 2008 suratkhabar The Star melaporkan Sang Kelembai cium tangan Abdullah Hj Ahmad (Sang Kelembai kata dalam IC tiada Badawi. Bila masa dia tengok IC PM) PM Malaysia. Bab hentam kawan pun beliau hebat. Sang Kelembai kata dia kenal Pak Lah sejak zaman belia lagi tapi hentam tetap hentam. Adakah Sang Kelembai pejuang UMNO tulen?

The most contemptible of politicians & individuals.

Tun Dr. Mahathir wrote to Karpal Singh... 3 April 2008, YB Mr Karpal Singh Member of Parliament, Bukit Gelugor Yang berhormat Thank you for your letter. You and my other detractors will never believe me whatever I may say. You are moved by pure hatred and I cannot respond to people who can never accept reality. My conscience is clear. I have done what was my duty and I owe nobody any apology. I am sure you will make use of this letter to dirty my name further. That is your right. I think you are the most contemptible of politicians and individuals. Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad Many years ago there was one Kiai Mahaguru (don't really remember his full name) who lived in Selayang, Selangor. He was so mad with Karpal Singh and was telling everbody that he would slap Karpal Singh. Can't really remember whether the Kiai did manage to do so?

Kalau BABI katakan BABI !!!

Kalau Babi katakan Babi. Jangan pulak sebut KHINZIR !!!

It's NOT a big deal !!!

Pahang Umno secretary's resignation makes it easy for Adnan KUANTAN, Wed: 9th April 2008 (NST Online edition which differ from NST Newspaper 10th April, 2008 Thursday) Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob has described Datuk Ahmad Tajuddin Sulaiman’s resignation as Pahang Umno liaison secretary as the right choice to make. "Indirectly, he has made my job easier as I don't have to sack him," he said in response to the resignation made on Monday. The Pahang Umno liaison chief also said that Ahmad Tajuddin was a gentleman as he made the decision to quit when he felt that he could no longer work for the party and its leadership. " It's not a big deal . Even the United Nations and Umno secretary-generals have to resign (when the time comes)," he said in jest. Asked who will replace Ahmad Tajuddin, Adnan said he had yet to decide although many candidates had offered themselves. “I am in no hurry to fill the post as the state liaison committee has a ded

Sang Kelembai dah balik

Pahang Owing RM37 million to a Logging Company?

NST page 21 Tuesday, April 8, 2008 Contempt of court action against Pahang Government for not paying RM37m compensation By Shahrum Sayuthi 08 April, 2008 A logging company is contemplating a contempt of court action against the Pahang government for failure to pay compensation amounting to over RM37 million. Seruan Gemilang Makmur Sdn Bhd was awarded the amount by the High Court here last year. The State Government, through the Forestry Department, was found to have acted illegally by the court when it refused to renew a logging licence for the company in 2000. The licence was for the company to continue its logging activities at a 10,000ha concession area in Mukim Bebar, Pekan. The deadline for the payment of the compensation was on Sunday. Lawyer Mohd Iqbal Hamdy Mohd Rusdi, who represented the company, said it has no other recourse but to file a contempt of court action. He claimed that the State Government had willfully ignored the court order. "Even though we believe there

NEWS vs STORIES

Lawatan Turun Padang MB Pahang

Tahniah YAB MB Pahang...
